Hi folks,
I am in an organization rolling out an electrical safety program prior to an arc flash hazard study and labelling being installed everywhere. We're teaching technicians to following the CSA Z462 process for establishing an electrically safe work condition.
A challenge is that absence of voltage testing is energized work. Selecting shock PPE is generally simple, since the exposure voltage can be determined. Selecting arc flash PPE without labels would require the table method, which requires more sophisticated training.
Is there any industry guidance or best practices to manage arc flash risk during absence of voltage testing, prior to the study and labelling? We could stipulate a high level of PPE to cover the uncertainty, but I think this would make technician buy-in more difficult.
Any thoughts or experience with this? Thanks!
