We have not seen a case yet where the high voltage energy levels are much of a problem. Contact still seems to be the greater hazard. The low voltage equipment however is a whole different story. Mitigation techniques and work methods seem to be about as wide ranging as the equipment and the systems. Some are trying to embrace the de-energized approach with the pad-mounts and transclosures, but don't look forward to telling the Wal-Mart super center that they will be in the dark and the cash registers won't work for the afternoon. These are difficult adjustments and I think will take some time for a utility industry that has always taken pride in "keeping the lights on". |
