I am currently looking at doing an Arc Flash study for my company and trying to find a software to use.

I have done some workshops and demos with easypower and really like their software.
I have tried a demo version of SKM but i am sure it is out of our price range for our budget.
I have not looked much into ETAP

I have seen ArcAD online and it is very cheap compared to the other softwares i have gotten quotes for.
Has anyone used this software? any notes / pro / cons?

I need to draw out the single lines for 4 buildings ranging from 4 panels and 15ish machines to 10 panels and 30+ machines.

Any recommendations or knowledge would be appreciated

If these are the only 4 buildings you'll need to do it would probably be more economical to hire it out. If your company has electrians on staff to help with data collection it helps keep the cost down.

If you are set on buying the software SKM has published price lists on their website. Not sure about EasyPower or etap. I have only seen demos on EasyPower but it looks like the easiest to learn and there a lot of videos to help you learn on YouTube.

I have used SKM a lot and etap a little. I like SKM much better than etap but it might just be from experience with SKM. I really don't care for etap. At all.

On smaller jobs that the customer requires etap on, I usually model in both SKM and etap just to double check the etap output.

Years ago when I was considering investing in software it came down to SKM or EasyPower for me, even though I had used etap a little before. I chose SKM because it has been around a long time and it seemed to me more people used it than the others.

Agreed. Given the size I would also recommend contracting this out. If you wish to perform the analysis I would recommend EasyPower. I've used both EasyPower and SKM extensively. I appreciate the abilities of EasyPower and how they handle displaying content on the one-line diagrams, but EasyPower is hands down the easiest software to learn. Everything about it just makes sense. Their technical support is also unmatched. Feel free to reach out if I can provide any more information and best of luck!

Do yourself a favor, contract the work out to someone who does this. Your results will be much better.
