It looks like the calculation method at this link is very old, from the 1997 Doughty/Neal paper. They should really be using the IEEE 1584 calculations. I've seen the forum host link to a few articles with the IEEE 1584 method. Also there is book on the subject that shows up in the forum sponsor box on the right.
