Previous versions of PTW have allowed a safe approach distance for a given PPE Cal rating (eg 8 cal/cm2) to be calculated via the AF_FB_IE1 etc fields. We could enter IE1 as 4 cal/cm2, IE2 as 8 cal/cm2, IE3 as 25 Cal/cm2 and IE 4 as 40 Cal/cm2 and PTW would provide the safe approach distance for each of these PPE cal ratings. However, the recent version (9003) does not allow this SKM appear to have changed the method of calculation such that as the nominated incident energy increases, so does the boundary calculation (ie the distance for 40 Cal is much greater than for 4 Cal). This is not useful to us as we need to know the distance personnel can safely get to switchgear when they are wearing different rated PPE. Has anyone found the same issue? ..and does anyone know a way in PTW of achieving what we want to achieve (and used to be provided in older versions)? Thanks |

Thanks. The manual approach is ok for a one off calc, though I need to do 4,8,25 and 40 cals for 100+ buses for 4 different sets of protection so manual approaches are not viable. That's what made the previous way that PTW used to work so useful and what makes the present way of no use at all! I fail to see the practical application for the new way that PTW does the calculation. |
