Hello all!
I have a situation where a LV panelboard is rated for 10kAIC and the short circuit eval indicates it could see up to 15kAIC for a fault condition. The feeder breakers in the panel are all the same and also rated at 10kAIC, however the feeders series rate with the main at 65kAIC. My question is: does the series rating of the OCPD's also create a series rating of 65kAIC for the panelboard? I think the answer is no. My understanding is that the series combinations are tested by the breaker manufacturer but if the panel is rated at 10kAIC then that shouldn't change based on the series ratings of the breakers. I don't see anything in the NEC that specifically talks about the panelboard in this situation.
Any wisdom would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks all!
