I've been seeing so many people use the term "arc flash risk assessment" when they mean "arc flash incident energy calculation with labels"
I am working on creating a risk matrix that includes incident energy, environmental factors, equipment age factors, etc. and was wondering if anyone knew of something that was already created so I didn't need to duplicate someone else's effort.
Risk is the combination of severity and likelihood.......and incident energy is a severity indicator. Calculating the incident energy is not enough to properly assess risk.
Any help out there on this? What other factors do you consider (i.e. assess) other than incident energy?
Thanks

Paul Campbell posted a really nice paper about Electrical Hazard Risk Assessments and how it can tie in to IEEE 493. His idea/approach makes the risk assessment less subjective...which I like.
Props to Paul...

Thanks Mike. I just found it online and will give it a look. It was published in October 2014 but I'm sure there's still a lot of relevancy to 2022
Safe travels

This paper was an interesting read for sure. Thanks for pointing me at it Mike

Phil, Check out REALTIME-SAFETY.COM. They have an Arc Flash Risk Assessment & Mitigation tool along with MANY other electrical safety management tools (LOTO, change tracking, maintenance scheduling and tracking, etc.) to help with creating and maintaining an effective and sustainable electrical safety program.
