I would like some help on a particular issue, and would like to know others practice. Do you require an 'energized hot work permit' when you are doing 'infrared scanning' of panels??? Basically you are taking the cover off, but sometimes you are taking the 'dead front' off but not all the time. Of course in all situations the appropiate ppe will be worn. So what is the practice in this area?? |

Does your in-house policy consider this work to be 'routine'. Do the persons involved receive specific and periodic training on how to perform this work safely. If yes, then the work can be perfomed under your 'standing permit'. If no, then you need a Live Work permit. In both cases all required PPE must be worn. |

This one is a grey area, to CYA we use a standing permit for IR scanning. |
