There are a few companies that make UV resistant label printers. These can be expensive, though ($3000). I have not gotten around to evaluating the one that we have at our facility. It is being used for other purposes (piping, other warning signs), and would require some manipulation of the label output to format the data to fit the printer. They are often slower and colors are limited due to their printing methods. I have gotten around the need in many cases by placing the arc flash warning labels inside the outer enclosure. The outside doors must be opened to access the operating handles and other controls for the switchgear, and do not expose live parts. In many cases this also requires many labels so that no matter what outer door is opened, there will be an arc flash label staring at the operator. |

Check out ONlinelabels.com product # OL5100WJ. This is an vinyl label suitable for inkjet or laser that is claimed to be weatherresistant. I have not tried them out doors yet. |
