Newbie question: I understand that arc flashes in an industrial setting are almost always accidental and unwanted incidents. Is there ever a reason to purposefully cause an arc flash, though? Maybe for some sort of maintenance/testing procedure? Thanks, Zach |

Lab setting for testing PPE. Lab setting for demo video showing off an arc flash. Industrial setting? Never heard of it purposefully. |

Some of the very slow air switches at higher voltage levels are quite impressive in the size of the arcs they generate. |
