Our electricians have a label on their shirts 4.6 ATPV arc rating. What is this in cal/cm?

4.6 cal/cm^2 However you should double and treble check the panel readings at every panel to ensure that the 4.6cal reading covers all the panels that you work on. If the incident energy is higher than 4.6cal (no matter how much higher) the electricians will be exposed to the arc flash hazard in the event of an incident. Also worth noting is the fact that some companies have internal standards and provide PPE according to their internal ratings so if you are working on a customer site, please please ensure that you are adequately protected.

Hi, ATPV is ARC Thermal protection value, it is the amount of energy the garment will withstand when faced with an Arc flash and is measured per square cm in calories.. If you need any more infor on fabrics that have ATPV protective values please ask, as we are a leading technical textile company developing fabrics for thermal protection.. We have from 7 to 67 cal/cm2 arc thermal protective fabrics made out of inherently flame retardant fibers.. Thanx Riaz
