Not "pixelated" but the old Westinghouse LCD's were very prone to fading out and the GE ones, even a very recent 369 that was only about 6 months old, have a tendency to have all kinds of missing lines in them making them all but impossible to read. I've had good luck with the URC relays. Too bad they're so expensive. And the SEL's if you're into a true relay situation and not simply an integrated trip unit. I've not been terribly impressed with ETC either (used to be called Saffire). |

I had a similar situation, but my breaker was GE's SGHC3604L4XX, 400Amp, SG type electronic trip (LSI) breaker. I wasn't able to see the settings on the LCD display clearly even when some of the pumps were running. I contacted GE and they told me that the trip unit is a self power microEntelliGuard trip unit and it will "self power" only when carrying at least 20% of the current sensor's rated current from actual load or with high current test. Otherwise, they told me to get portable battery pack (TVPBP) with cable adapter (TVPBPACC), to be able to see the display and perform trip settings when the breaker is not energized or running less than 20% of its rated current. So you may want to check with Siemens and find the nature of trip unit LCD, if it has restrictions to display or require external power or even change the LCD. All the best! |
