What are your site policies on grounding medium voltage end-use equipment, such as 4160 volt motors, 2500 v compressor motor controllers, etc.? OSHA 1910.269 section N is clear that for distribution and transmission equipment, grounding and Equalized potential zone is required. However, user equipment is not covered in OSHA, UNLESS the employer chooses to require grounding. NFPA 70E requires grounding "where the possibility of induced voltages or stored electrical energy exists." (Section 120.5(8)). |

We snap it and ground down our MV switchgear. Mike |

So is your MV switchgear considered "distribution equipment?" If so, grounding is required. My question relates to non-distribution end-use equipment. |

It would be considered distribution, yes. Mike |
