Hi all,
I am looking for information on glove requirements when a shock hazard doesn't exist (i.e. operating a circuit breaker with the door closed). NFPA 70E requires leather gloves, but that is it. There is an FPN on 12 oz leather up to HRC 2. Any info is appreciated. Thanks.

Use the leather protectors from your rubber gloves. The "arc rated" gloves are very hard to work with and usually get improperly applied. There have been several discussions here on this topic, including some test results.

I agree with Zog's comments.

I would add that leather gloves are as needed determined by the IE and/or company's policy.

I would always make the recommendation for a company policy and safe work practices for workers to use leather protectors at a minimum for panelboards CB operation at any energy level. I have had a few light burns on the fingers over the years.
