| Post subject: | CSP Transformers |
Hello, I have a situation where there are 3 CSP distribution transformers directly connected to the primary and the secondary side is connected to a fused disconnect switch. The transformers are CSP so there is a protective device on the secondary side of the transformer. I am not sure if there is a weak link primary fuse in the transformer also. I am waiting on the utility but in the meantime, has anyone modeled a system using the CSP feature in the transformer? Thanks |

I have modeled a couple of 7200/240V CSP transformers. Most CSP transformers have both primary and secondary internal protection, but some have primary fuse protection only. The secondary breaker is for thermal overload protection (in my case it was an ABB, type E) and not found in most software libraries. Since short circuit protection is provided by the primary fuse link (in my case it was an ABB TCC#735701), I only modeled the primary fuse for the arc flash study I was doing. Since not all CSP units are made the same, I suggest waiting on the utility to get the manufacturer's information for the specific transformer in question. |
