Post subject:  Enclosure size in IEEE 1584-2018

I have been working my way thru 1584-2018 and looking for some clarification on the enclosure size. I have the new EasyPower software and there are locations for either default size or user entered dimensions. I have the switchboard in the attached file and it looks like the dimensions to be entered would be the width of Sect 2 & 3 with a height of 91.5 inches and depth would be 19.5 in. It looks like the max in 1584 is 49 inches for both width and height.

Anybody dealing with this now?

I just checked in EasyPower and using the Default value, 21.4 cal/cm^2 is obtained while putting in 84 in for width, 91.5 in height and 19.5 in depth, 16.1 cal/cm^2 was obtained.

The calculations are normalized to 20" x 20" which is the worst case/conservative. Using actual dimensions if more accurate. Above 49" the equations default to 49" I believe most software defaults to sizes in Table 8 of IEEE 1584 - Classes of equipment and typical bus gaps. This is a similar logic to 2002 when most defaulted to standard bus gaps. Right now the industry is still sorting out how far to go with all of the new parameters.
