A colleague in the U.K. forwarded this video to me from his local news source. The video shows the moment an 11,000-volt electrical cable exploded, severely burning two construction workers and leaving one of them scarred for life. The footage released by the Health and Safety Executive shows a labourer and a bricklayer working on a site at the House of Lords in Westminster. Just amazing. First off, look at the work area. It's an accident waiting to happen. Following the explosion, the injured man falls on a metal beam that's laying close to the his work space. Lucky he didn't hit his head in the fall. This happens while the other man seems to be taking care of himself. By now, the injured has gotten back up and appears to be trying to get his clothing off. His face is likely burned. His clothing could be on fire. He looks confused. But does the other man help? No. Instead the uninjured man walks out of the work area - ahead of the injured person. The injured man is probably in shock and needs someone's help. I hope that after he got out of the work area, he managed to get proper help. |

Wow, we see different things in this. I agree the site is a bit of a mess, but..... That "metal beam" is not just lying there, it looks to me like a brace across a trench wall. Neither man is "uninjured". Both are enveloped in the fire ball. I am amazed either can see any thing at all that soon after getting a fireball in the face. Neither {or both} "walk out of the work area" at least in as much of it played on my machine. They both end in about the same location. And the "uninjured" man had to climb out of the hole he was in first. |
