Post subject: Arc Flash Assessment Required at 208v
PostPosted: Fri Nov 10, 2023 6:04 am
Currently in the middle of a safety audit in Europe. Arc flash study completed in 2017 and the auditor says it is not compliant because the arc flash study did not consider equipment >208 Volts but < 240 volts. Is arc flash study required for equipment >208 volts but less than 240.

Bonus points if you include the standard reference.

TIA,

Tired Safety Manager

I would say the short answer is "yes". The voltage range you are talking about is within the bounds of IEEE 1584. What is the specific utilization voltage you are using?

Even if it uses the DGUV 203-077 method for arc flash calculation, the method is applicable over 50V; so the calculation should have been done. It may depend on the electrical safety standards of the exact country you are talking about.
