When performing an Arc Flash Hazard Calculation Study, IEEE 1584 suggests including all motors 50 hp (37 kW) and larger in the model to account for motor short circuit current contribution. For motors that can contribute short circuit current, do you:

We include motors greater than 50HP, but we also run arc flash scenarios with no motors running. |

We typically use SKM to calculate Arc Flash values. Since SKM has the ability to calculate all motor faults, we use it; it is more conservative than only considering >50hp motors. |

Why does IEEE 1584 suggest all 50 hp motors and larger be included ? Would 2 25 hp motors add the same contribution? |
