The 2012 Edition now required Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training if an employee’s duties warrant such training.
Have you had AED training?
- Yes
- No, not yet
- No, my job does not require AED training

The training is ridiculously simple; just follow the AED's spoken instructions and the diagrams on the electrodes. But if you want the protections afforded by good Samaritan laws, you'd best take the training.

De-fib story
My father, RIP, was a cardiologist. I remember in the late 1970's, he told me he was "de-fibbing" a patient, when he, the doctor got a shock during the procedure.
I was an EE student, I suggested he had been in contact with the conductive gel. Of course, from his point of view it was a defective defibrillator machine, not user error.
Some sort of PPE should have been used! In those pre-HIV days, gloves were not used universally during medical procedures.

Having the training under your belt makes you a little bit more sure of yourself. You don't want to second guess your actions when someone's life is on the line, even if the instructions are easy to follow.

AED availbility
Hello,
I see in 110.2 where AED training is required as defined in (C). Has the 2012 addition been updated elsewhere in regards to AED. Specifically, is there a requirement that an AED device be present when performing energized work?

Thanks!
