The 2012 Edition now required Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training if an employee’s duties warrant such training. Have you had AED training?

The training is ridiculously simple; just follow the AED's spoken instructions and the diagrams on the electrodes. But if you want the protections afforded by good Samaritan laws, you'd best take the training. |

De-fib story My father, RIP, was a cardiologist. I remember in the late 1970's, he told me he was "de-fibbing" a patient, when he, the doctor got a shock during the procedure. I was an EE student, I suggested he had been in contact with the conductive gel. Of course, from his point of view it was a defective defibrillator machine, not user error. Some sort of PPE should have been used! In those pre-HIV days, gloves were not used universally during medical procedures. |

Having the training under your belt makes you a little bit more sure of yourself. You don't want to second guess your actions when someone's life is on the line, even if the instructions are easy to follow. |

AED availbility Hello, I see in 110.2 where AED training is required as defined in (C). Has the 2012 addition been updated elsewhere in regards to AED. Specifically, is there a requirement that an AED device be present when performing energized work? Still reading... Thanks! |
