IEEE presently does not have a method for calculating single phase arc flash.

Have you ever had a "serious" arc flash involving only one phase at 277V or less?

The worst, and only arc flash I have seen was from a dryer plug where one of the phases went to ground while testing it phase to phase. It melted my meter lead, and was a small pop. Pretty small beans

A friend of mine was hooking up his new kitchen receptacles hot and forgot to bust the tab off between the two hots.. After he touched the second hot to the plug, his main tripped and he had some black marks on his new back splash..
