When establishing an electrically safe work condition, do you also apply grounds to the circuit?

We don't bother earthing out LV circuits but anything MV and above is not deamed Isolated until earths are applied to the circuit. Dave Sargent Origin Energy NZ |

i second what Dave said...we'll perfrom voltage checks on the LV side and then ground out the MV systems. |

Has much to do with context. Some facilities are more comfortable with a visible open; i.e: withdraw the breaker; but on systems with overhead distribution lines (exposure to accidental energization or induced voltage) grounding is the norm, always. |
