A discussion has come up recently about working distance and switchgear. The existing IEEE 1584 2002 Standard suggests using 24 inches for the working distance for low voltage switchgear calculations. However, there is some debate about whether this is practical in every situation. Some elect to use 18 inches. So, here is this weeks’ question:
Do you always use a 24” working distance for low voltage switchgear?
- Yes - always 24"
- Sometimes we use 18” - depends on the task
- No - we always use 18”
- We don’t have low voltage switchgear
- We use something else
