The 2015 Edition of NFPA 70E is placing more emphasis on the condition of the electrical equipment and has the following language proposed:

110.1(B) The electrical safety program shall include elements that consider condition of maintenance of electrical equipment and systems.

Here is this week’s question:

What is the condition of maintenance of your/your client’s electrical equipment?

• Excellent - Better than most
• Average - Pretty typical
• Poor - What is maintenance?
• Lots of clients / locations - we see it all

Most of our customers and the equipment I see is maintained at the medium voltage and low voltage above 1,200amps fairly well. The lack of maintenance I see the most is in low voltage (208v&480v) panels where most of the work is done.

I selected "average" but it is really hard to gauge just what average means. If most companies don't perform routine testing, does that become "average"?
