The 2015 Edition of NFPA 70E is placing more emphasis on the condition of the electrical equipment and has the following language proposed: 110.1(B) The electrical safety program shall include elements that consider condition of maintenance of electrical equipment and systems. Here is this week’s question: What is the condition of maintenance of your/your client’s electrical equipment?

Most of our customers and the equipment I see is maintained at the medium voltage and low voltage above 1,200amps fairly well. The lack of maintenance I see the most is in low voltage (208v&480v) panels where most of the work is done. See attached picture. We are working to correct the multiple code violations in this imageand the many other violations discovered during the arc flash study. |

I selected "average" but it is really hard to gauge just what average means. If most companies don't perform routine testing, does that become "average"? |
