NFPA 70E requires a documented meeting between the host and contract employer if the host has knowledge of hazards covered by this standard. The specific language is:

110.3 Host and Contract Employers’ Responsibilities.
(C) Documentation.
Where the host employer has knowledge of hazards covered by this standard that are related to the contract employer’s work, there shall be a documented meeting between the host employer and the contract employer.

This week's question - Regardless of whether you are the host or contract employer:

Do you have a documented meeting between the host and contract employer?

Yes
No
Depends
Doesn't Apply Us

The contractors I have worked with since starting with my current employer have been working here for years, so it hadn't occurred to me to have a documented meeting with them.

I would think that our work permits would provide this type of documentation. No contractor work without a permit. If an EEWP is needed, then it is an additional document to cover that aspect.

Oh technically before every job (contractor and employee) a form needs to be filled out detailing all safety concerns for the job. For any jobs I have with a contractor, I review it with them and sign the form. Guess that might fulfill the requirement.

I hate to say it but at one time it seemed like safety rules were pretty uniform from one site to another. The only thing that really varied was enforcement. I haven't ever tried to do it but I can almost develop a checklist of items that vary from one site to another (and sometimes even within the same site). It is no longer really practical or possible to have a single set of work rules that work universally for contractors, so the contractor/host meeting has become critical to make sure that those subtle differences are passed along.
