Since the duration of an arc flash is based on the clearing time of an upstream protective device, the condition of that device can have a significant effect on whether it operates correctly (or at all).

The words maintenance, properly maintained and condition of maintenance are found throughout NFPA 70E which states that equipment shall be maintained in accordance with manufacturers' instructions or industry consensus standards

One such industry consensus standard is NFPA 70B, Recommended Practice for Electrical Equipment Maintenance.

When it comes to NFPA 70B - I have:
Heard of it
Have a copy
Read it
Used it
Never heard of it

A similar question might be asked of the NETA standards.
