This week’s question was asked years ago but it keeps coming up. Most recently in a committee technical discussion. It is similar to last week’s question: How should incident energy from arc energy reduction methods be addressed on arc flash labels? This week’s question is about the number of DIFFERENT LABELS at the SAME LOCATION for different scenarios. i.e. a label for normal, a label for maintenance mode, a label for…. So here goes: What is the maximum number of DIFFERENT arc flash labels have you seen/used at the SAME location? 1 2 More than 2 Doesn’t apply How many DIFFERENT labels have you seen/used at the SAME location? I have installed labeling for three different scenarios. It is amazing what I will do for money. |

When I was doing the labels for the solar power grid tie inverters, there was 1 label for each opening in the inverter enclosure (there are 10 doors / access panels for the enclosure) for the installed production parameters (4 MW transformer, no fuses). There is a second set of labels for testing in our facility for the operational testing parameters (500 kW transformer, with semiconductor fuses, and a breaker disconnect). |

to clarify my earlier post: The incident energy ranged from below 1 cal/cm^2 to 75 cal/cm^2, depending on which particular door / panel you opened |
