If possible remove the hazard. Disconnect power to the panel you are inspecting (proper LO/TO
), and then you are free to open the panel without exposing yourself to any live parts.

To do AF calcs for 208 (greater than 125kVA) and 480 volt circuits requires breaker identification (manufacturer, model and trip settings). What precautions do you use when inspecting 480v and 208v CB panels for breaker identification? Have you found an alternative to direct inspection? And, no, our documentation doesn't have this info. |

The old chicken or the egg scenario. You need the study done so that you can determine the PPE needed to open the panel covers, but you cann't open the covers without PPE. What I have done in the studies that I have conducted is to wear Cat 4 at the main service equipment, and Cat 2 downstream from that point. |
