I recently performed incident energy calculations for client with a 300Vdc distribution fed by a Rockwell Automation SD3000 1215HP dc drive based on Dan Doan's paper for the IE conversion from SSC, BUT getting the SS value in SKM's DC Analysis Tools left a few blisters and some doubt so I redid the SS calcs manually with IEC 61660-1. Before this study the client was going to commission the system w/o PPE. Now he's grateful to know he has to wear Cat 3!!!
I'm now experimenting SKM's beta version 7.0 for DC arc flash and still having getting some snags. Does anyone know if other AF software vendors (ESA, EDSA, ETAP, etc.) have a validated dc AF tool that works well?
BTW, find Dan Doan's IE conversion formulae in NFPA 70E-2012 Annex D.8
