I was wondering if anyone may be able to advise if LV fuse cutouts and LV link boxes, would be suitable subjects for an arc flash study.

Also in terms of enclosure type I would you be able to advise on what would be a suitable enclosure type. I would imagine shallow vertical arrangement for a cutout and shallow horizontal arrangement for a link box.

It sounds though you're from the UK, if thats right I may be able to help you. I've got experience in this field from some years ago which may be of some help.

Do you have some more details of the installation? If I read it correct, this would be what we call cutouts here in the US and these are used primarily on overhead distribution systems. Modeling would be an open air configuration with the working distance based on the length of the hot stick used.

In the UK, the fuse cutout is a box accommodating a set of LV fuses and a utility service cable termination.

Though I accept that a fault is unlikely to occur, if this was to be considered for an arc flash study what would the configuration be. I was thinking VCBB.
