Hello Everyone, I am curious how everyone is handling cable properties (insulation/jacket types) that may not be typical within software platforms? Are you requesting actual impedance data from manufacturers? Additionally, how are you handling conductor runs that may change raceway materials? For example, a particular run changes from steel conduit to aluminum cable tray and possibly back to conduit? Are you demonstrating this as separate cables? Thanks for the input. |

As to your second question regarding conductor runs that change raceway material...I model them as separate cables. |

We would add a bus for the locations where the conduit transitions to another type. Conduit type (magnetic/non-magnetic) will have a slight affect on short circuit calculations. If these are short runs (less than 10 feet), I would not worry about it too much. Insulation type has very little affect on the short circuit calculation. Conductor type (copper/aluminum), size, and length is what really impacts the SC calculations. |
