Yeah, first one is using wires in place of fuses, but I can't find where that is a code violation. The issue I see is they are vastly undersized compared to the rest of the circuit. They are also using SIMpull Alumaflex wire, might want to make sure the terminals allow that.
For Pic #2, it is common convention to use Brown, Orange and Yellow for 480Y/227 Vac wiring, but it is not a Code requirement [but it is for Purdue

]. Therefore, I'm guessing you have 250V fuses on a 480V system. Yikes! A second possible issue, it looks like all the wire is going in and out of the same conduit, and is possibly #1/0, possibly Alumaflex again. If these things are true, your wire is again vastly undersized.
