Hello, I will be doing some 70e training. The goal of the course is to convince the workers to follow the 70e standard. We are providing a complete set of 70e gear (gloves, suit, hood etc). We have a bunch of testing videos and some security camera videos of Arc Flash events but we feel it would be more powerful to say this is what happens and hold up some damaged gear. (Hopefully it was damaged through testing.)

We don't have the budget to buy new stuff and damage it. But if someone knows where we can get something, that would be great. Even if it was sliced in half or fingers cut off just to be sure it can't be used again. Any help would be appreciated.

Also, if there are any good quality pictures of charred gear that would be great.

Good luck in your search, but I don't know what gets more dramatic then watching a ARC flash incident on tape! Do any of your employees know of anyone that has had a arc flash incident? If so, it maybe beneficial to have the person come in and tell his/her story to your class.

Gloves are easy to get, and while not as dramatic to show as a burned up flash suit (I have a few of those) the training value is huge. Not many people know what ozone damage looks like on rubber gloves or how to properly inspect for snags and ozone damage. Get some good samples to pass around for your students to find. Your local testing lab should have these available.

For the FR clothing, you can try Westex for some samples, or try KEMA or Kinetrics for any flashed samples they may have. But chances are slim there.

A professional training company that specializes in 70E will have better presentations, better hands on training aides, and a better understanding up the requirements for compliance than you can in house. I highly recommend hiring one.

Some are not so lucky as to had had arc protection!

This shows how an arc can consume all clothing and the body as well! Not for the squeamish! The lesson learned was to ensure a secure Isolation before work starts.
