I have read on the forum that all clothing under PPE must be non-melting (i.e. not poly bend). I have a 2009 NFPA 70E handbook that seems to contradict this. In the interpretation section of 130.7(c)(5) Body Protection, is says “Employees who are within the Arc Flash Protection Boundary must wear FR clothing for protection from the thermal effects of an arcing fault. The requirement is that all ignitable clothing must be protected by at least one layer of clothing that has an established incident-energy rating. Clothing could be shirt and pant, coveralls or any other assembly that provides protection for ignitable clothing or exposed skin.” Could anyone help clear this up for me? |

130.7(C)(14) is pretty clear. I think you are confusing ignitable and melting. 100% cotton is ignitable, polyester is melting. |

You are correct, I was confusing the two and yes 130.7(C)(14) is clear. Thank you for the clarification. |
