PPE are designed for thermal protection during arc flash but sever pressure/blast waves are also released during arc flash event. Is there any protection available per codes for this kind of hazard?

Yes, it is called "distance"

I think IEEE 1584 is doing research on blast/pressure but right now that is a big question and the reason Ei's >40cal/cm2 are often considered "dangerous"

There is no standard. Oberon I believe has some stuff on the market but that's as far as it goes. It appears from some of the preliminary slides on the joint IEEE/NFPA research project that the arc blast may be relatively constant as far as the pressure goes above a certain voltage/current rating and that the pressure wave develops and subsides very quickly. This is all second hand information based on a presentation. I have seen no actual data yet.

U.S. Military has lots of public data on concussion waves. Above about 20 PSI, your chance of survival is very slim. Lee did a theoretical equation for arc blasts but if you combine the results, it seems to suggest that arc blasts are not survivable except in the most mild circumstances...a conclusion that does not hold up against actual evidence out there.
