Post subject:  Generator Field DC Arc Flash Incident Energy Levels

Does anyone have any experience with the calculations necessary to determine the DC arc fault incident energy levels that might be encountered while performing on line brush changes of a large utility synchronous generator?

Any information on this topic would be greatly appreciated.

A useful IEEE paper that I obtained previously in researching this subject:
" Paper Mill Case Study in Safety Improvements for Generator On-Line BrushChanging" Douglas Moody & Gary Custer, considers the protections, stored field energy and provides a hazard analysis. Collector ring barriers are also discussed in preventing short circuits.
