Does anyone have any experience with the calculations necessary to determine the DC arc fault incident energy levels that might be encountered while performing on line brush changes of a large utility synchronous generator? Any information on this topic would be greatly appreciated. |

A useful IEEE paper that I obtained previously in researching this subject: " Paper Mill Case Study in Safety Improvements for Generator On-Line BrushChanging" Douglas Moody & Gary Custer, considers the protections, stored field energy and provides a hazard analysis. Collector ring barriers are also discussed in preventing short circuits. |
