I'm wondering if anyone here from Canada are now using the latest IEEE 1584? Should it be implemented right away or should we be waiting for the next revision of CSA Z462?

Hi,

Most are updating arc flash studies as part of the 5 year review cycle from NFPA 70E. CSA Z462 is based on NFPA 70E.

Also, quite a bit needs sorted out regarding the application of the new standard and updated software. Below is a survey from a short time ago regarding when people will be updating. 80+ percent responded they will update based on the review cycle.

Hope this helps.

We started using rev. 2018 for all new project, including 5 years updates.

Knowing how much the new revision produce results closer (more accurate) to realistic situations, I feel it is our professionnal duty to use the new revision.

Also, section D.4.1 of Z462 asks users to consult the latest revision of 1584.
