It has been a while since I provided an update about the next edition of IEEE 1584. Attached is an article that I wrote about IEEE 1584 earlier this year that was published in Electrical Contractor Magazine. Since this article, the working group has been reviewing plans for possible additional testing. As I have mentioned in previous updates, it will be several years yet before a new edition is released. The next edition is a monumental undertaking and arc flash testing takes quite a bit of time to schedule, conduct and analyze.
