Hello,
I am currently modeling an MCC lineup with internal VFDs which have input filters. It appears the filters are MTE Matrix passive filters constructed of an inductor and capacitor configuration. The VFDs are not regen and do not have a bypass option, therefore motor contribution will be neglected. Additionally, nothing downstream of the VFD will require labeling. With that said, is there any reason to model the filter and/or VFD from an arc flash analysis standpoint? I understand that modeling for other system studies could be beneficial at a later date.
Thanks.

If you are performing only an Arc Flash study, then you would not need to model the VFD and filter. This is because the input to the filter/VFD is going to have the highest AF energy. The energy value is equivalent to the main bus of the MCC.
