Operators in one of our facilities want approval to install viewing windows on 13.8kV switchgear doors to view breaker status (open, closed, test position, etc.).
These are a retrofit product from Fluke that have voltage, temperature and pull-out ratings that exceed IEEE C37.20.2 standards for viewing windows.
Is this a reasonably safe thing to do with respect to arc flash?
Regards

Since the consensus is that credit is not taken for switchgear, MCC, switch doors for reducing AFH, unless specifically designed and rated as arc resistant, I don't think installing the windows will affect the choice of PPE.
