𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 𝐀𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐀𝐫𝐜 𝐅𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐡 | 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐞𝐭𝐲. Jim Phillips once again played an instrumental role in the Australian Arc Flash | Electrical Safety series of conferences and workshops.  This is Jim’s fifth year with this series of prestigious events. Jim says his first trip speaking about Arc Flash and IEEE 1584 in Australia was back in 2012 just north of Sydney.  .

𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐞: The tour began in Brisbane with my 2 day IEEE 1584 | Arc Flash workshop where Jim took a deep dive into Arc Flash, IEEE 1584, modeling and all of the assorted calculations.

𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐡: From Brisbane, the tour moved to Perth on the west coast where he had the privilege of giving the Kickoff / Keynote talk at the Arc Flash | Electrical Safety Conference.  The topic was about the history of electrical safety and arc flash: where we have been and where we are headed. It has been a long evolution going back over one hundred years with many people involved along the way.

During day two of the conference, Jim was the Moderator of the panel discussion: 𝐼𝑚𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑣𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑌𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝐸𝑙𝑒𝑐𝑡𝑟𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑙 𝑆𝑎𝑓𝑒𝑡𝑦 𝐶𝑢𝑙𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑒. The focus was How to Minimize Human Error Driven Arc Flash Incidents and included an international who’s who of panelists. The conference was followed by 2 day IEEE 1584 | Arc Flash workshop.

𝐌𝐞𝐥𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞: Heading eastward (after Jim had a bit of holiday and sightseeing including the Kangaroos in the photo), the tour ended in Melbourne with the 2 Day workshop AND NFPA 70E program.  People often question why NFPA 70E is considered in Australia as it is perceived as a strictly American standard.

As Jim stated: “Electrical hazards are the same all over the world and electrical workers have the same desire to be safe from those hazards. There are only so many ways to protect a person from electrical hazards and NFPA 70E captures best practices for planet earth.  From his years of global travel and training, NFPA 70E is often referred to in many countries around the world for just that reason.”

Jim gives his heartfelt thanks to the wonderful people of Australia for the amazing hospitality and friendship! Keep up the excellent work in keeping people safe from the hazards of electricity.
