A\u00f1ad\u00ed algo de \u00faltimo momento a la presentaci\u00f3n que no se incluy\u00f3 en el art\u00edculo publicado. Proporciona una correlaci\u00f3n directa entre el uso de la configuraci\u00f3n IEEE 1584 HCB 2018 y las conclusiones de un art\u00edculo t\u00e9cnico de 2010 sobre la reducci\u00f3n de la clasificaci\u00f3n de los EPP para los flujos convectivos externos durante un arco el\u00e9ctrico.<\/p><p>El art\u00edculo IEEE-ESW 2010 de Lang, Jones y Neal se titula: <em>Impacto de los eventos de arco el\u00e9ctrico con flujos convectivos salientes en las estrategias de protecci\u00f3n de los trabajadores<\/em>, y abord\u00f3 la cuesti\u00f3n de la ropa con clasificaci\u00f3n de protecci\u00f3n contra arcos el\u00e9ctricos que est\u00e1 sujeta a la energ\u00eda convectiva adem\u00e1s de la energ\u00eda radiante de un arco el\u00e9ctrico. El documento afirm\u00f3 que la energ\u00eda convectiva incluye la transferencia de calor debido al contacto directo con el plasma generado durante el arco el\u00e9ctrico.<\/p><p>Est\u00e1 bien documentado que el rendimiento de algunas prendas con clasificaci\u00f3n de protecci\u00f3n contra arcos el\u00e9ctricos puede ser bastante diferente cuando se las somete directamente a flujos convectivos. Mis colegas que escribieron el art\u00edculo de 2010 realizaron muchas pruebas y proporcionaron un an\u00e1lisis detallado del comportamiento de los EPP. La conclusi\u00f3n fue que en algunos casos puede ser necesario ajustar la clasificaci\u00f3n de protecci\u00f3n contra arcos el\u00e9ctricos a la baja para tener en cuenta el diferente rendimiento en los flujos convectivos.<\/p><p>Tabul\u00e9 sus hallazgos en la Tabla a continuaci\u00f3n. Los casos 1 y 2 ilustran dos configuraciones de EPP del art\u00edculo y las clasificaciones de arco correspondientes. El caso 1 tiene una clasificaci\u00f3n de 41 cal\/cm<sup>2<\/sup> y el caso 2 tiene una calificaci\u00f3n de 70 cal\/cm<sup>2<\/sup> como se muestra en la columna 3. En lugar de reducir la potencia del EPI, \u00bfqu\u00e9 pasar\u00eda si se ajustaran los c\u00e1lculos de energ\u00eda incidente? Eso es exactamente lo que plantea la edici\u00f3n 2018 de la norma IEEE 1584: <em>Gu\u00eda IEEE para realizar c\u00e1lculos de riesgo de arco el\u00e9ctrico<\/em> Se trata de proporcionar diferentes opciones de modelado.<\/p><p>Para ilustrar esta idea, realic\u00e9 c\u00e1lculos de energ\u00eda incidente en un sistema de 480 V con una corriente de cortocircuito de 50 000 amperios (50 kA). Los c\u00e1lculos se basan en el uso de la configuraci\u00f3n VCB (conductores\/electrodos verticales dentro de una caja\/gabinete de metal), que era la \u00fanica configuraci\u00f3n de gabinete disponible en el momento del documento de 2010. Los c\u00e1lculos resultantes que se muestran en la columna 7 son similares a las clasificaciones de arco efectivo que se muestran en la columna 4. Cambi\u00e9 la configuraci\u00f3n de cada c\u00e1lculo de VCB a HCB para representar la configuraci\u00f3n horizontal utilizada en el art\u00edculo de 2010. Estos resultados se muestran en la columna 8 e ilustran lo que sucede si se abordan los flujos convectivos modificando la configuraci\u00f3n de electrodos de los c\u00e1lculos de energ\u00eda incidente en lugar de ajustar la clasificaci\u00f3n de PPE. Me llev\u00e9 una agradable sorpresa (qued\u00e9 at\u00f3nito y pasmado tal vez ser\u00eda una descripci\u00f3n m\u00e1s apropiada) al descubrir que los resultados de HCB estaban muy cerca de las clasificaciones de arco de PPE originales en la columna 3.<\/p><h2><strong>\u00bfQu\u00e9 significa todo esto? \u00a0<\/strong><\/h2><p>En lugar de abordar el problema del flujo convectivo reduciendo la potencia del EPP, de estos dos ejemplos se desprende que la situaci\u00f3n se puede solucionar utilizando HCB, que no estaba disponible antes de 2018. En lugar de indicar un valor de 41 cal\/cm<sup>2<\/sup> La clasificaci\u00f3n de arco tiene una clasificaci\u00f3n efectiva de 21 cal\/cm<sup>2<\/sup> Cuando se somete a flujos convectivos, utilizando HCB para los c\u00e1lculos, se obtiene una energ\u00eda incidente de 42,40 cal\/cm<sup>2<\/sup> en lugar de 21,19 cal\/cm<sup>2<\/sup> con el VCB. El resultado indica una clasificaci\u00f3n de arco m\u00e1s alta que logra el mismo objetivo. Siempre puede haber un caso at\u00edpico, pero est\u00e1 bastante claro que mis amigos ten\u00edan algo de raz\u00f3n en 2010 con la reducci\u00f3n de la clasificaci\u00f3n de los EPI.
