Este valor se seleccion\u00f3 como un punto en el que la presi\u00f3n de la explosi\u00f3n se consideraba un peligro significativo y, por lo tanto, se deb\u00eda dar mayor \u00e9nfasis a la desenergizaci\u00f3n.<\/p><p>Las dos variables principales que definen la magnitud de la energ\u00eda incidente potencial de un arco el\u00e9ctrico son el cortocircuito del arco el\u00e9ctrico y la duraci\u00f3n del arco, definida por el tiempo que tarda un dispositivo de protecci\u00f3n en eliminar el evento. Aunque puede ser posible calcular un valor de energ\u00eda incidente muy grande debido al tiempo de despeje de un dispositivo de protecci\u00f3n, no es un verdadero indicador de la presi\u00f3n de la explosi\u00f3n.<\/p><p>La edici\u00f3n 2018 de la NFPA 70E (Norma para la seguridad el\u00e9ctrica en el lugar de trabajo) puede finalmente eliminar la Nota informativa 3 y el umbral de 40 cal\/cm2.
