el\u00e9ctricos<\/strong><\/h3><p>Cuando explota una bomba, cuanto m\u00e1s lejos se encuentre de la explosi\u00f3n, m\u00e1s seguro estar\u00e1. Este mismo concepto tambi\u00e9n se aplica si se produce un incidente de arco el\u00e9ctrico. Tanto si es una persona cualificada debidamente protegida que realiza el trabajo como si es un simple observador, la distancia entre usted y el arco el\u00e9ctrico puede marcar la diferencia.<\/p><h3><strong>Distancia de trabajo del arco el\u00e9ctrico y el trabajador el\u00e9ctrico <\/strong><\/h3><p>\u00bfPeque\u00f1as chispas? \u00bfExplosi\u00f3n mortal? Se puede utilizar un estudio de c\u00e1lculo de arco el\u00e9ctrico, generalmente basado en ecuaciones de IEEE 1584, para predecir cu\u00e1nta energ\u00eda incidente (IE) en calor\u00edas\/cent\u00edmetro<sup>2<\/sup> (calor\u00edas\/cm<sup>2<\/sup>) puede alcanzar a un trabajador. Esto supone que la persona se encuentra a una distancia espec\u00edfica de la fuente del arco, conocida como \u201cdistancia de trabajo\u201d. Seg\u00fan el tipo de equipo, esta \u201cdistancia de trabajo\u201d, como se la denomina, se define normalmente como 18 o 36 pulgadas, aunque se pueden utilizar otras distancias.<\/p><p>Una vez calculada la energ\u00eda incidente (IE), se puede utilizar para seleccionar el equipo de protecci\u00f3n individual (EPI) adecuado. Esto parece bastante sencillo, pero hay que tener cuidado porque la IE calculada se basa en la \u201cdistancia de trabajo\u201d entre la fuente de arco potencial y el torso, la cara y la cabeza del trabajador. Si se acerca m\u00e1s, la energ\u00eda incidente puede aumentar dr\u00e1sticamente.<\/p><p>\u00bfQu\u00e9 sucede con las manos y los brazos de una persona? La norma NFPA 70E 130.3(B)(1) establece<\/p><p>\u201c\u2026a medida que disminuye la distancia del arco el\u00e9ctrico, se deber\u00e1 utilizar EPP adicional para cualquier parte del cuerpo que est\u00e9 m\u00e1s cerca que la distancia a la que se determin\u00f3 la energ\u00eda incidente\u201d.<\/p><p>Como las manos y otras partes del cuerpo probablemente estar\u00e1n m\u00e1s cerca, suele ser necesaria protecci\u00f3n adicional.<\/p><h3><strong>Energ\u00eda incidente y distancia<\/strong><\/h3><p>La energ\u00eda incidente tambi\u00e9n disminuye a medida que aumenta la distancia. La energ\u00eda disminuye como el cuadrado inverso de la distancia. Por ejemplo, si una persona se encuentra a un pie de distancia del arco podr\u00eda recibir una energ\u00eda incidente de 8 cal\/cm<sup>2<\/sup>, duplicar la distancia a dos pies reducir\u00e1 la energ\u00eda incidente de 8 cal\/cm<sup>2<\/sup> hasta aproximadamente 2 cal\/cm<sup>2<\/sup> o \u00bc de su valor original \u2013 \u00a1una ca\u00edda bastante grande!<\/p><p>Utilizo la palabra \u201caproximadamente\u201d porque la velocidad real a la que disminuye la energ\u00eda tambi\u00e9n depende del tipo de equipo. Un arco el\u00e9ctrico al aire libre disminuye como la distancia al cuadrado inversa. Sin embargo, si el arco el\u00e9ctrico se produce dentro de un recinto, como un panel o un centro de control de motores, la energ\u00eda se comporta m\u00e1s como si saliera disparada desde un ca\u00f1\u00f3n y se requerir\u00e1 una distancia mayor.<\/p><h3><strong>L\u00edmites de arco el\u00e9ctrico: distancia y personas desprotegidas <\/strong><\/h3><p>Seg\u00fan la NFPA 70E, la definici\u00f3n del l\u00edmite de arco el\u00e9ctrico es: cuando existe un peligro de arco el\u00e9ctrico, un l\u00edmite de aproximaci\u00f3n desde una fuente de arco en el que la energ\u00eda incidente es igual a 1,2 cal\/cm<sup>2<\/sup><\/p><p>Las personas que no est\u00e9n adecuadamente protegidas deben mantenerse alejadas de una fuente potencial de arco el\u00e9ctrico a una distancia m\u00ednima igual al l\u00edmite del arco el\u00e9ctrico.<\/p><p>Desde 1,2 cal\/cm<sup>2<\/sup> Se acepta ampliamente que la energ\u00eda m\u00ednima que puede provocar la aparici\u00f3n de una quemadura de segundo grado es la distancia m\u00ednima necesaria para alcanzar este nivel. Si se acerca m\u00e1s, existe la posibilidad de sufrir una quemadura grave, \u00a1o algo peor!<\/p><h3><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Mantenlo simple<\/strong><\/h3><p>Los resultados de un estudio de c\u00e1lculo de arco el\u00e9ctrico probablemente producir\u00e1n un l\u00edmite de arco el\u00e9ctrico diferente para cada equipo, dependiendo del tiempo de despeje del dispositivo de protecci\u00f3n aguas arriba y de la corriente de cortocircuito disponible. Con la posibilidad de tantos l\u00edmites diferentes, puede ser f\u00e1cil cometer un error.<\/p><p>Un enfoque m\u00e1s simple es adoptar un l\u00edmite AFPB estandarizado. Esto requiere que se revisen los resultados del estudio y se adopte el l\u00edmite m\u00e1s grande dentro de lo razonable. Sugiero \u201cdentro de lo razonable\u201d porque es posible tener un l\u00edmite AFPB inusualmente grande que puede no ser realista. Las f\u00f3rmulas IEEE 1584 existentes utilizan el tiempo de despeje del dispositivo de protecci\u00f3n como una de las muchas variables de entrada. Probablemente no, pero actualmente no hay suficiente investigaci\u00f3n disponible para determinar cu\u00e1l deber\u00eda ser un l\u00edmite de tiempo razonable. La norma IEEE 1584 actualmente sugiere un l\u00edmite de tiempo m\u00e1ximo de 2 segundos seg\u00fan las circunstancias individuales.<\/p><h3><strong>\u00a1Ahora es f\u00e1cil!<\/strong><\/h3><p>Supongamos que un estudio de arco el\u00e9ctrico muestra valores de AFB de entre 0,5 pies y 5,3 pies. Si se utiliza el m\u00e9todo simplificado, se puede obtener un valor de AFB estandarizado basado en el valor m\u00e1s alto, de 5,3 pies. Tal vez se pueda redondear a 6 pies. Esto facilita mucho el programa de seguridad el\u00e9ctrica.<\/p><p>\u00bfLa base a\u00e9rea en este caso? \u00a1Seis pies, punto! Las personas que se encuentren dentro de este l\u00edmite deben estar capacitadas, calificadas y usar la protecci\u00f3n adecuada.
