Intentar\u00e9 aclarar algunos de los malentendidos m\u00e1s comunes en un formato de preguntas y respuestas.<\/p><p><strong>Regla de los dos segundos<\/strong><\/p><p>P: El arco no durar\u00e1 m\u00e1s de 2 segundos, \u00bfpor qu\u00e9?<\/p><p>R: Este es un malentendido com\u00fan. La norma IEEE 1584 contiene un lenguaje que suele denominarse \u201cregla de los dos segundos\u201d, que se origin\u00f3 con la edici\u00f3n de 2002. Al realizar un estudio de arco el\u00e9ctrico, a veces no hay suficiente corriente de falla de arco para activar un dispositivo de sobrecorriente aguas arriba en la regi\u00f3n instant\u00e1nea. Se basa en la premisa de que una persona se mover\u00eda r\u00e1pidamente del camino en respuesta al arco el\u00e9ctrico y ya no estar\u00eda en el \u00e1rea inmediata despu\u00e9s de 2 segundos. El arco el\u00e9ctrico en s\u00ed podr\u00eda posiblemente continuar.<\/p><p><strong>40 calor\u00edas por cent\u00edmetro cuadrado<sup>2<\/sup> Explosi\u00f3n de arco<\/strong><\/p><p>P: Entiendo que la energ\u00eda incidente es superior a 40 cal\/cm<sup>2<\/sup> crear\u00e1 una gran presi\u00f3n explosiva que me convertir\u00e1 en un &quot;insecto salpicado&quot;. \u00bfEs esto correcto?<\/p><p>R: No exactamente. Las 40 cal\/cm<sup>2<\/sup> Las \u201chistorias\u201d comenzaron con la edici\u00f3n 2000 de la norma NFPA 70E, cuando se introdujeron las tablas de categor\u00edas de riesgo de peligro (HRC) para seleccionar ropa y equipo de protecci\u00f3n personal (EPP) con clasificaci\u00f3n de arco. Las tablas de HRC solo llegaban hasta 40 cal\/cm<sup>2<\/sup> que era el l\u00edmite superior de la mayor\u00eda de los EPI en ese momento. Se introdujo una nota informativa para la energ\u00eda incidente superior a 40 cal\/cm<sup>2<\/sup> que dec\u00eda que \u201cpuede ser necesario un mayor \u00e9nfasis con respecto a la desenergizaci\u00f3n\u201d. Los c\u00e1lculos de energ\u00eda incidente IEEE 1584 a veces pueden superar los 40 cal\/cm<sup>2<\/sup> umbral. El primero podr\u00eda tener una presi\u00f3n de explosi\u00f3n considerable, pero el segundo, aunque mucha energ\u00eda, se distribuye en un per\u00edodo de tiempo m\u00e1s largo.\u00a0<\/p><p>Esta nota informativa finalmente se elimin\u00f3 en la edici\u00f3n 2018 de NFPA 70E con una gran justificaci\u00f3n: 40 cal\/cm<sup>2<\/sup> No debe ser el umbral en el que se desenergiza el equipo antes de que una persona se exponga a peligros el\u00e9ctricos. Siempre debe desenergizarse y colocarse en una condici\u00f3n de trabajo el\u00e9ctricamente segura.<\/p><p><strong>El\u00e9ctricamente seguro = No requiere EPP<\/strong><\/p><p>P: Solo trabajamos en sistemas colocados en condiciones de trabajo el\u00e9ctricamente seguras, por lo que nunca necesito EPP, \u00bfverdad?<\/p><p>R: No exactamente. El proceso de creaci\u00f3n de una condici\u00f3n de trabajo el\u00e9ctricamente segura requiere que los conductores y las partes del circuito se traten como si estuvieran energizados hasta que se pueda verificar la ausencia de voltaje. Cuando se utiliza un instrumento de prueba para este proceso, la persona est\u00e1 cerca y SI el equipo todav\u00eda est\u00e1 energizado por alguna raz\u00f3n desconocida (lo que puede suceder debido a condiciones como interruptores defectuosos y fuentes no detectadas), el peligro sigue estando presente. Durante este proceso se requiere ropa y equipo de protecci\u00f3n personal con clasificaci\u00f3n de arco (a menos que la energ\u00eda incidente sea inferior a 1,2 cal\/cm<sup>2<\/sup>).<\/p><p><strong>Sin peligro de arco el\u00e9ctrico<\/strong><\/p><p>P: La energ\u00eda incidente en la etiqueta es inferior a 1,2 cal\/cm<sup>2<\/sup> \u00bfCu\u00e1l es el umbral en el que se requiere equipo de protecci\u00f3n personal con protecci\u00f3n contra arcos el\u00e9ctricos? Esto significa que no hay peligro de arco el\u00e9ctrico, \u00bfverdad?<\/p><p>R: Escucho esto con bastante frecuencia y he visto las palabras \u201cNo existe peligro de arco el\u00e9ctrico\u201d en las etiquetas. La respuesta simple es que a\u00fan existe peligro de arco el\u00e9ctrico, pero no uno que se considere grave. Se considera que este umbral es el punto en el que podr\u00eda producirse una quemadura de segundo grado. A\u00fan puede haber una quemadura leve.
