A new requirement will mandate the presence of an additional person during certain energized work tasks, reinforcing the idea that safety is not just about procedures, but also about having the right people in place when something goes wrong.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c0af13a e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"c0af13a\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-21e309b elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"21e309b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Doesn\u2019t OSHA Address This?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-59a3bd3 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"59a3bd3\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ad89ffc elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ad89ffc\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>OSHA addresses the need for a second person in 29 CFR 1910.269(l)(1)(i) which is for Electric Power Generation, Transmission and Distribution. The requirement is for at least two employees to be present during work such as:<\/p><p>The installation, removal, or repair of lines energized at more than 600 volts or the installation, removal or repair of equipment if there is exposure with parts energized at more than 600 volts. There are a few other requirements focusing on the 600-volt threshold as well as several exceptions.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-21ea7cc e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"21ea7cc\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-26d1f87 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"26d1f87\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">2027 NFPA 70E<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8cd7bad e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"8cd7bad\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ff12b79 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ff12b79\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>A new addition: <strong>130.2(A)(2) \u2013 Additional Person<\/strong> significantly expands this concept.<\/p><p>Under this new requirement, when:<\/p><ul><li>An energized electrical work permit (EEWP) is required, and<\/li><li>The task involves the use of shock and\/or arc flash PPE<\/li><\/ul><p>then:<\/p><ul><li>At least one additional person must be present<\/li><li>This person must meet the emergency response training requirements outlined in Section 110.4(C)(1)<\/li><li>They must be positioned outside the greater of the limited approach boundary or the arc flash boundary<\/li><\/ul><p>Importantly, this additional person is not there to perform the work, but to serve as an emergency responder if something goes wrong.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8c56912 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"8c56912\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-692c286 elementor-widget class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Section 110.4(C)(1) specifies that individuals responsible for emergency response must be trained in:<\/p><ul><li>Contact release (safe methods to free a victim from electrical contact)<\/li><li>First aid<\/li><li>Emergency response procedures<\/li><li>Resuscitation (e.g., CPR)<\/li><\/ul><p>This ensures that the second person is not just a bystander, but someone capable of taking immediate and effective action.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5782d61 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"5782d61\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div second person needs to be a qualified electrical worker. Instead, their role is focused on emergency support\u2014calling 911, initiating first aid, or assisting with rescue procedures. occur.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f0035f6 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\"
