Esta norma fue muy celebrada en ese entonces porque por primera vez exist\u00eda una norma reconocida internacionalmente que proporcionaba un m\u00e9todo para calcular la corriente de cortocircuito por arco, la energ\u00eda incidente y el l\u00edmite del arco el\u00e9ctrico. Los resultados de estos c\u00e1lculos suelen aparecer en las etiquetas de los equipos y arcos el\u00e9ctricos y se han convertido en una parte integral de los estudios y evaluaciones de riesgos de arcos el\u00e9ctricos a nivel mundial.<\/p><p>Sin embargo, no pas\u00f3 mucho tiempo antes de que la atenci\u00f3n comenzara a centrarse en lo que vendr\u00eda despu\u00e9s.<\/p><p>La lista de lo que vendr\u00eda despu\u00e9s se estaba haciendo cada vez m\u00e1s larga. Era obvio que la pr\u00f3xima edici\u00f3n de IEEE 1584 ser\u00eda un proyecto de proporciones \u00e9picas que requerir\u00eda importantes recursos financieros y t\u00e9cnicos. Para estar a la altura de este desaf\u00edo, ser\u00eda necesario un enfoque diferente y se cre\u00f3 una colaboraci\u00f3n entre IEEE y NFPA.<\/p><p>La investigaci\u00f3n y las pruebas del proyecto de colaboraci\u00f3n finalmente se pusieron en marcha y dieron como resultado un nuevo modelo preliminar m\u00e1s detallado y nuevas ecuaciones que se entregaron al grupo de trabajo IEEE 1584. Se realizaron mejoras adicionales al modelo y luego finalmente se integr\u00f3 en un borrador de la pr\u00f3xima edici\u00f3n de la norma. Se desarrollaron varias revisiones y borradores m\u00e1s a lo largo del camino y ahora la versi\u00f3n actual (borrador 6) finalmente est\u00e1 cerca de publicarse.<\/p><h2><strong>\u00bfQu\u00e9 cambi\u00f3?<\/strong><\/h2><p>Una pregunta frecuente es: \u201c\u00bfQu\u00e9 ha cambiado entre la edici\u00f3n de 2002 y la pr\u00f3xima edici\u00f3n de IEEE 1584?\u201d. Quiz\u00e1s una pregunta m\u00e1s f\u00e1cil de responder es qu\u00e9 NO ha cambiado. Bueno, \u00a1la pr\u00f3xima edici\u00f3n todav\u00eda tiene el mismo t\u00edtulo!<\/p><p>La edici\u00f3n de 2002 se bas\u00f3 en m\u00e1s de 300 pruebas de arco el\u00e9ctrico utilizadas para desarrollar ecuaciones derivadas emp\u00edricamente. El rango de validez va de 208 V a 15 000 V (trif\u00e1sico) y para corrientes de cortocircuito de 700 amperios a 106 000 amperios. La nueva edici\u00f3n se basa en casi 2000 pruebas adicionales que abarcan una amplia gama de voltajes, configuraciones y par\u00e1metros.<\/p><p>Echemos un vistazo a los cambios principales:<\/p><p><strong>Rango de voltaje (sin cambios): <\/strong><\/p><ul><li>208 V a 15 000 V, trif\u00e1sico<\/li><\/ul><p><strong>Rango de corriente de cortocircuito atornillado:<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>208 V \u2013 600 V: 500 A a 106 000 A<\/li><li>600 V \u2013 15 000 V: 200 A a 65 000 A<\/li><\/ul><p><strong>Brecha entre conductores:<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>208 V \u2013 600 V: 0,25 pulgadas a 3 pulgadas<\/li><li>601 V \u2013 15 000 V: 0,75 pulgadas a 10 pulgadas<\/li><\/ul><p><strong>Distancia de trabajo:<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>12 pulgadas o m\u00e1s grande.<\/li><\/ul><h2><strong>Nueva configuraci\u00f3n de electrodos\/buses<\/strong><\/h2><p>La edici\u00f3n de 2002 se bas\u00f3 en pruebas de arco el\u00e9ctrico con electrodos en orientaci\u00f3n vertical, como se muestra en la Figura 1. Cuando se produce un arco el\u00e9ctrico utilizando el modelo original, el plasma del arco se dirige hacia la parte inferior de la caja y a menudo se derrama por el frente.<\/p><p>Investigaciones posteriores han demostrado que la orientaci\u00f3n de los electrodos puede influir en la energ\u00eda incidente. Como resultado, el equipo del proyecto realiz\u00f3 muchas pruebas nuevas utilizando orientaciones de electrodos que incluyen tanto una configuraci\u00f3n horizontal como electrodos verticales que terminan en una barrera aislante. Estas configuraciones adicionales pueden ser posibles con algunos tipos de equipos el\u00e9ctricos. El nuevo modelo incluye cinco configuraciones diferentes, como se ilustra en las figuras 1 a 5.<\/p><p>Cuando los electrodos se colocan horizontalmente, el plasma del arco se dirige desde los extremos de los electrodos hacia afuera. Asociaci\u00f3n de Propietarios<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><p><strong>Excepci\u00f3n de transformador de 125 kVA <\/strong><br \/>La edici\u00f3n de 2002 conten\u00eda un texto que muchos denominan la \u201cexcepci\u00f3n del transformador de 125 kVA\u201d. Este texto establece:<\/p><p><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>\u201cNo es necesario considerar equipos por debajo de 240 V a menos que involucren al menos un transformador de baja impedancia de 125 kVA o mayor en su suministro de energ\u00eda inmediata\u201d<\/em><\/p><p>Este lenguaje se bas\u00f3 en algunas pruebas que indicaron que corrientes de cortocircuito m\u00e1s bajas a voltajes m\u00e1s bajos pueden tener menos probabilidades de sostener un arco el\u00e9ctrico, lo que resulta en una energ\u00eda incidente m\u00e1s baja.<\/p><p>Sin embargo, las pruebas posteriores de IEEE 1584 han demostrado que, aunque no es muy com\u00fan, es posible que se produzcan arcos el\u00e9ctricos durante un breve per\u00edodo de tiempo a niveles m\u00e1s bajos de corriente de cortocircuito, lo que da como resultado una mayor energ\u00eda incidente. Seg\u00fan los resultados de pruebas adicionales, se ha eliminado el texto de 125 kVA. En su lugar, el nuevo texto establece lo siguiente:<\/p><p><em>Los arcos el\u00e9ctricos sostenibles son posibles pero menos probables en sistemas trif\u00e1sicos que funcionan a 240 V nominales o menos con una corriente de cortocircuito disponible inferior a 2000 amperios.<\/em><\/p><h2><strong>Voltaje<\/strong><\/h2><p>Aunque la edici\u00f3n de 2002 es v\u00e1lida para voltajes de 208 V a 15 000 V, solo se proporcionaron dos ecuaciones diferentes para la corriente de cortocircuito por arco. Una para sistemas que funcionan desde 208 voltios hasta 1000 voltios y otra para 1000 voltios a 15 000 voltios. Esto dej\u00f3 una discontinuidad en 1000 voltios y se necesitaron m\u00e1s refinamientos. Adem\u00e1s, la edici\u00f3n de 2002 requiri\u00f3 un factor de c\u00e1lculo (Cf) para los c\u00e1lculos de energ\u00eda incidente a voltajes menores a 1000 voltios. La pr\u00f3xima edici\u00f3n utiliza 3 voltajes y tambi\u00e9n incluye interpolaci\u00f3n para otros voltajes para una mayor precisi\u00f3n. Los tres voltajes incluyen 600, 2700 y 14 300 voltios.<\/p><h2><strong>Con conexi\u00f3n a tierra\/sin conexi\u00f3n a tierra<\/strong><\/h2><p>La edici\u00f3n de 2002 hizo una distinci\u00f3n en los resultados en funci\u00f3n de si un sistema de energ\u00eda est\u00e1 conectado a tierra o no conectado a tierra\/conectado a tierra por impedancia. Durante la etapa de iniciaci\u00f3n del arco, cuando el alambre fusible se est\u00e1 derritiendo, el arco puede ser muy err\u00e1tico, es decir, desequilibrado. El arco err\u00e1tico cre\u00f3 una diferencia en la corriente de arco y la energ\u00eda incidente durante este breve per\u00edodo que podr\u00eda verse influenciada por la forma en que est\u00e1 conectado a tierra el sistema. El nuevo modelo se basa en el arco m\u00e1s estable, por lo que no hay diferencia en los c\u00e1lculos basados en la conexi\u00f3n a tierra.<\/p><h2><strong>Factor de correcci\u00f3n de variaci\u00f3n de corriente de arco<\/strong><\/h2><p>El primer anexo de la edici\u00f3n 2002 de la norma IEEE 1584 se public\u00f3 en 2004. Este anexo, conocido simplemente como IEEE 1584a, agreg\u00f3 un factor 85% para reducir la corriente de cortocircuito por arco calculada para sistemas de hasta 1 kV. La reducci\u00f3n se realiz\u00f3 para tener en cuenta las variaciones que pueden ocurrir en la corriente de arco real que podr\u00edan afectar la velocidad de funcionamiento de un dispositivo de protecci\u00f3n. Si la corriente de arco reducida daba como resultado un tiempo de despeje m\u00e1s prolongado y una mayor energ\u00eda incidente, se utilizar\u00edan los resultados basados en la corriente ajustada.<\/p><p>En lugar de un factor 85% fijo, la pr\u00f3xima edici\u00f3n incluye un \u201cFactor de correcci\u00f3n de variaci\u00f3n de corriente de arco\u201d basado en el uso de una nueva ecuaci\u00f3n. Esto representa una variaci\u00f3n de corriente de arco m\u00e1s precisa basada en la configuraci\u00f3n del electrodo, as\u00ed como otros factores, y se aplica a todos los voltajes.<\/p><h2><strong>Factor de correcci\u00f3n del tama\u00f1o del recinto<\/strong><\/h2><p>El tama\u00f1o del recinto puede tener un impacto significativo en la energ\u00eda del arco el\u00e9ctrico que se expulsa y llega al trabajador. Para abordar este problema, se incluyeron tama\u00f1os de recinto adicionales en el programa de pruebas. Tambi\u00e9n se ha introducido un factor de correcci\u00f3n del tama\u00f1o del recinto para ajustar la energ\u00eda incidente para recintos m\u00e1s peque\u00f1os y m\u00e1s grandes. Para los equipos que funcionan a voltajes inferiores a 1000 voltios, la pr\u00f3xima edici\u00f3n ahora hace una distinci\u00f3n entre recintos &quot;superficiales&quot; que tienen menos de veinte cent\u00edmetros de profundidad y recintos &quot;t\u00edpicos&quot; que tienen m\u00e1s de veinte cent\u00edmetros de profundidad.<\/p><h2><strong>Dos segundos<\/strong><\/h2><p>En la edici\u00f3n de 2002 se sugiere que la duraci\u00f3n del arco puede limitarse a 2 segundos si los c\u00e1lculos indican que un dispositivo de protecci\u00f3n puede tardar un tiempo inusualmente largo en funcionar. Se debe utilizar el criterio para evaluar si una persona tendr\u00eda espacio para reaccionar y saltar fuera del camino en 2 segundos.<\/p><p>Esto nos lleva a otra pregunta: \u00bfSe mantendr\u00e1 la regla de los dos segundos?
