Sin embargo, si nos remontamos a la evoluci\u00f3n de los c\u00e1lculos de arco el\u00e9ctrico, no siempre se tuvo en cuenta este valor. Debido a la impedancia del arco, la corriente de arco siempre ser\u00e1 menor que la corriente de cortocircuito m\u00e1xima y el valor m\u00e1s bajo podr\u00eda generar una mayor energ\u00eda incidente. \u00bfPor qu\u00e9? Porque la corriente m\u00e1s baja podr\u00eda provocar que el dispositivo de protecci\u00f3n aguas arriba tarde m\u00e1s en funcionar, lo que dar\u00eda lugar a una mayor duraci\u00f3n del arco el\u00e9ctrico.
